Norelco 7800 verdict: who should buy it
The best electric shaver for sensitive skin at a sensible price. You get Philips' glide coating, the same density sensor as pricier models and fully flexing heads for roughly a third of flagship money.
Best for
- Razor burn and red patches on the neck
- Men switching from foil shavers because of irritation
- Every-day or every-other-day shaving
Look elsewhere if
- You let it grow five days or more: Braun Series 9 Pro+ (9517s)
- You want the full comfort upgrade with pressure feedback: Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra
- Your budget is under $70: Philips Norelco Shaver 3600
Why it ranks #4 of 17
The coating on the head is the reason it's here. Philips claims up to 30 percent better glide from its Nano SkinGlide layer, and that's what sensitive-skin owners notice in practice: less drag, less heat, fewer red patches. A sensor reads beard density 250 times a second, and a motion guide steers you toward slow circles instead of scrubbing.
It earned a Shaver Notes score of 8.6/10 and the "Best for sensitive skin" spot on the best electric shavers for men list.
What the Norelco 7800 does well
- Glide coating aimed squarely at irritation
- Fully flexing heads follow the jaw and neck
- One-hour charge, five-minute top-up for one shave
- Self-sharpening blades rated for about two years
Norelco 7800 problems and things to know before you buy
- The 7200 and 7300 shave the same. Buy whichever is cheapest that week.
- Some listings don't include a wall adapter; any USB-A phone charger works.
- It's not as quick as a Braun Series 9 Pro+ on a five-day beard.
What owners keep saying
A large share of 7000-series reviews come from men who left foil shavers because of razor burn. That's the pattern worth noticing. Comfort complaints are rare and closeness complaints are mild.
