Series 6 verdict: who should buy it
The gentlest Braun under $100. Dermatologically tested, a flexing head that reduces pressure, and a Gentle mode for days your neck is already irritated.
Best for
- First electric shaver for sensitive skin
- Every-day shavers on a budget
- Men who found cheap foils too harsh
Look elsewhere if
- Your beard is very dense and coarse: Panasonic Arc5 (ES-LV67)
- You prefer rotary comfort: Philips Norelco Shaver 5400
- You want it as cheap as possible: Braun Series 5 (5118s)
Why it ranks #7 of 17
The SensoFlex head tilts to keep pressure even across the foil, and Braun added a SkinGuard strip on this generation to stretch the skin flat before the foil reaches it. Gentle mode drops the cutting speed for comfort. It isn't the fastest shave here, but it's one of the kindest at this price.
It earned a Shaver Notes score of 8.3/10 and the "Gentlest foil under $100" spot on the best electric shavers for men list.
What the Series 6 does well
- Comfort-first head design
- Two modes
- Cheaper heads than Series 7-9
- Waterproof
Series 6 problems and things to know before you buy
- Slower on dense, coarse growth than a Series 7.
- The 6172cc adds a station; the 6040cs is the older run.
